The a Behind Point A
amalia deloney
Strategist, futurist, and facilitator working at the intersection of culture, systems, and imagination
amalia deloney is a strategist, facilitator, and futures practitioner with over 25 years of experience leading transformative work at the intersections of policy, culture, philanthropy, and community imagination. Born in Guatemala and raised in a multiracial family, amalia’s practice is rooted in popular education, regenerative systems thinking, and a deep commitment to justice.
She has served as co-executive director of a national foundation, vice president of a regional philanthropic institution, and senior advisor to local and global initiatives focused on movement-building, narrative change, and equity-centered systems transformation. Across these roles, she has led multimillion-dollar portfolios, shaped national policy campaigns, and designed award-winning programs that center the voices and leadership of historically excluded communities.
Trained in human rights law, with a background in urban studies and history, amalia brings a deeply transdisciplinary perspective to her work. She draws on her lived experience navigating multiple identities and geographies, guided by the belief that imagination and power-sharing are essential to building just and inclusive futures.
Today, through her studio, Point A, she partners with communities, governments, and mission-driven organizations to move from bold ideas to meaningful action—blending foresight, design, and strategic facilitation to shape futures rooted in equity, care, and belonging.
amalia is a 2024 Futures Fellow with the Association of Professional Futurists and has previously held fellowships with the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard, New America, and Brazil’s Instituto de Tecnologia e Sociedade, among others.
